Additional Semiconductor Test Equipment for Automotive Electronics
Business and Customer Diversification in Full Swing
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] A-FACT, a comprehensive semiconductor testing specialist company, announced on the 12th through a public disclosure that it achieved sales of 23.5 billion KRW in the first half of 2022, marking a 4.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating profit rose by 12.0% to 2 billion KRW. Net profit turned positive at 2.1 billion KRW.
A-FACT, which counts SK Hynix as its largest client, explained that despite difficulties caused by the lockdown in the Chinese market during the first half, sales increased, and operating profit grew due to internal management rationalization and system improvements. The company stated that if the investment environment in the semiconductor industry gradually improves from the second half, the performance growth rate could further expand.
A-FACT recently secured additional customers for system semiconductor testing and succeeded in receiving orders, preparing for additional equipment procurement. The automotive electronics semiconductor testing equipment, of which two units were ordered last year, had one unit delivered in May and is scheduled to begin mass production in September. Another unit is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter.
Efforts to secure new growth engines are also underway. On May 12, A-FACT signed an MOU with AT Semiconductor for the business transfer of the semiconductor post-process package (PKG) business. An A-FACT official stated, “We recently completed legal and financial due diligence, and negotiations on detailed contract terms for the main contract are progressing smoothly.”
An A-FACT representative said, “Despite the worsening domestic and international business environment, we achieved sales growth and a turnaround to net profit,” adding, “If the acquisition of the semiconductor post-process PKG business is successfully completed, we will grow into a leading company with annual sales exceeding 150 billion KRW in the semiconductor post-process sector.”
