[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Busan City will hold the ‘77th Liberation Day Celebration’ at 10 a.m. on the 15th, Liberation Day, in the city hall auditorium.
About 100 people, including Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, Ahn Seong-min, Chairman of the Busan City Council, Ha Yun-su, Superintendent of Busan Education Office, and members of the Liberation Association, will attend. Considering the resurgence of COVID-19, the event will be held on a small scale.
The event will also be broadcast live on Busan City’s internet channel ‘Bada TV’ so that all citizens can take time to reflect on the meaning of liberation.
Before the celebration, at 9 a.m., Mayor Park Hyung-joon and others will visit the Liberation Memorial Hall’s spirit tablet repository to pay tribute to the patriotic martyrs.
This year’s Liberation Day celebration will be held under the theme ‘My Country, My Busan’ and will proceed in the following order: ▲Opening performance by the Municipal Art Troupe ▲National ceremony ▲Screening of a celebratory video ▲Commemorative speech by Bae Jong-yeol, head of the Busan branch of the Liberation Association ▲Government award ceremony ▲Congratulatory address by Mayor Park Hyung-joon ▲Play and choir performance ▲Singing of the Liberation Day song and three cheers for victory.
Through the event, the city plans to highlight Busan’s independence movement history and honor the sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs, conveying a message to citizens to inherit the will and passion of the independence patriots and further develop Busan toward the future.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon of Busan said, “I pay my respect and gratitude to the patriotic martyrs who devoted themselves to the liberation of our country,” adding, “I will make Busan, a dynamic city that has led the myths of national industrialization and democratization, stand tall as a global hub city hosting the 2030 World Expo.”
