Gochang-gun to Host 'Gochang Haepung Chili Festival' on 27-28

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun (Governor Shim Deokseop) announced on the 12th that the '26th Gochang Haepung Chili Pepper Festival' will be held for two days on the 27th and 28th at Haeri Sinbok Community Center and Gymnasium in Haeri-myeon.

Under the theme of 'Clean Gochang Haepung Chili Pepper, Experience Its True Taste and True Light,' this event features premium chili peppers grown in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve area, nurtured by the sea breeze.

Haepung chili peppers grow along the clean coastal area of Gochang, exposed to tidal flat sea breezes rich in minerals and germanium, making them resistant to pests and diseases with thick skins.

They have a distinctive spicy taste and aroma and have long been known as the best chili peppers used in kimchi for kimjang.

During the festival, a direct chili pepper market will be actively promoted. It provides an opportunity for residents and tourists to purchase high-quality chili peppers, cultivated with farmers' hard work throughout the unusually hot summer, at affordable prices.

Governor Shim Deokseop said, "We will make the Haepung Chili Pepper Festival a place for community harmony where producers and consumers meet directly, widely promote local agricultural and specialty products, and contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
