[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] At the former Andong Station cultural platform Modi684, as part of the Andong cultural city project, the "2022 World Culture Salon" and "Korean Diaspora through Portrait Photography" will be held on August 12th at 7 PM.

The Korean diaspora refers to Koreans living abroad.

This World Culture Salon invites world-renowned Korean artists to share and exchange experiences of life and art abroad through Korean identity.

Starting from France on July 16th, the event will be held in three sessions, inviting Korean artists residing overseas, including Australia.

The second session of the culture salon will be a talk concert by photographer Son Seunghyun, who won the 2022 Ilwoo Photography Award in the documentary category.

Son Seunghyun’s talk concert is based on his work "Forgotten People," which meets and exhibits stories of those recognized as minorities in our society through photography.

This exhibition was held at the Asia-Pacific Peace Memorial Hall and is expected to provide insight into the true lives of the Korean diaspora who have lived for a long time in different cultures of foreign countries due to political and historical events surrounding the Korean Peninsula.

A representative of the World Culture Salon said, “The 2022 World Culture Salon hopes to serve as an opportunity to expand the brand image of Andong within Korea to Andong in the world through cultural exchange with Korean artists and creators living abroad,” adding, “Since special concerts by Korean artists active overseas will be held in the upcoming salons, we hope many culture lovers will participate together.”

Anyone who is a citizen of Andong can apply to participate, with a maximum of 50 people accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications are accepted online through the citizen participation support project within the Andong Cultural City Platform (by clicking the World Culture Salon popup and course application) and by phone.
