Final Appointment by Seoul Mayor after Employee Voting and Nomination Committee Resolution... Term of 3 Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Water Reclamation Facilities Corporation has appointed two labor directors to enhance the public interest and transparency of its management and has embarked on realizing responsible labor-management governance.
According to the corporation on the 12th, the labor directors will represent the opinions of all employees working at the Seoul Water Reclamation Facilities Corporation and play a role in labor-management coexistence. In particular, as a part of the management, they will participate in the board of directors, exercising speaking and voting rights to reflect the voices from the field in management, thereby directly participating in the decision-making process.
The newly appointed labor directors are Kwon Hyung-gu, a Grade 5 team member of the Modernization Team at the Seonam Center, and Oh Hae-dong, a Grade 5 team member of the Water Treatment Team at the Tancheon Center. The Seoul Water Reclamation Facilities Corporation explained that according to the corporation’s regulations on the election management of labor director candidates, the basic qualification for labor directors is 'workers who have been employed at the corporation for more than one year.' Therefore, this year, for the first time since the corporation’s establishment, labor directors were elected as candidates meeting this condition appeared after one year had passed.
The Seoul Water Reclamation Facilities Corporation is a Seoul city investment institution launched in January 2021 to professionally operate water reclamation centers and support the development of the water industry and water reclamation technologies.
The corporation conducted elections targeting all workers, and among the final candidates recommended by the executive recommendation committee, two were ultimately appointed by the Mayor of Seoul. The term of office is three years, until July 31, 2025.
At the appointment ceremony, Park Sang-don, Chairman of the Seoul Water Reclamation Facilities Corporation, said to the newly appointed labor directors, “As the corporation’s first labor directors, please lead cooperation and coexistence between workers and management with a sense of responsibility and mission,” adding, “Going forward, together with the labor directors, we will realize ethical management, transparent management, and responsible management at our corporation.”
