[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 11th, the Gwangju Nambu Fire Station announced that it conducted a citizen-participation fire evacuation drill targeting facilities housing disaster-vulnerable groups to enhance citizens' safety awareness and improve initial response capabilities.
Facilities housing disaster-vulnerable groups, such as nursing hospitals, are spaces used by an unspecified large number of people, making them highly susceptible to fires. Additionally, many patients have mobility difficulties, which hinders evacuation during a fire.
The citizen-participation fire evacuation drill conducted focused on guiding people to evacuate in simulated scenarios and included training on how to report to 119, use fire extinguishers, fire hydrants, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
A hospital official who participated in the drill said, "Through this training, I have accurately learned how to use a fire extinguisher, so I think I can respond calmly even if a fire breaks out," and added, "I will pay attention to preventing fires through voluntary safety management and prevention in daily life."
Meanwhile, the Nambu Fire Station conducts citizen-participation fire evacuation drills at least once a month for multi-use facilities such as sales facilities where there is a concern for mass casualties in case of fire, and at least once a quarter for facilities housing disaster-vulnerable groups.
