Changwon Special City Opens 'Urban Regeneration Story Hall' Gyeongnam Changwon Special City held an opening ceremony for the 'Changwon Special City Urban Regeneration Story Hall' at the Changdong Changwon City Urban Regeneration Support Center in Masanhappo-gu.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held an opening ceremony for the ‘Changwon Special City Urban Regeneration Story Hall,’ created to record and promote the history of urban regeneration, at 10:30 AM on the 11th at the Changwon Urban Regeneration Support Center in Changdong, Masanhappo-gu.

About 30 people attended the opening ceremony, including Jo Myung-rae, the 2nd Deputy Mayor of Changwon Special City, city council members, and local residents involved in urban regeneration projects.

The Changwon Special City Urban Regeneration Story Hall project began construction in February to promote and preserve records of the achievements of Changwon’s urban regeneration projects, known as the first district of urban regeneration. The project was carried out over four months with a budget of 60 million KRW.

The Story Hall, serving as a hub space for urban regeneration exhibitions and promotions, was established on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Changwon Urban Regeneration Support Center. The first floor, covering 129.65㎡, exhibits the birth of the city, the progress of urban regeneration, and the beginning of urban regeneration as a leading project. The stairwell displays information about the Changdong Art Village and Burim Creative Craft Village, including project details, artworks, and history.

The second floor, covering 128.1㎡, is composed of displays on the status of urban regeneration by district, a three-dimensional map of urban regeneration, viewing of records and videos related to urban regeneration, and exhibitions of resident participation programs.

After the completion of the Changwon Special City Urban Regeneration Story Hall, it will be operated and managed by the ‘Changwon Urban Regeneration Support Center’ to enhance local residents’ understanding of the Changwon-style urban regeneration projects and to continuously promote and monitor urban regeneration efforts.

Deputy Mayor Jo said, “The opening of the Changwon Special City Urban Regeneration Story Hall will not only showcase Changwon’s role as the first district of urban regeneration and resident participation activities but also present a new vision and value for the city center. I am confident it will fulfill this role.” He added, “I ask that it faithfully perform its role as a promotional and hub site for Changwon’s urban regeneration in the future.”
