[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is set to replace old security lights to resolve difficulties faced by resident companies in the Songam Industrial Complex and to ensure the safe passage of vehicles and pedestrians.
On the 11th, Nam-gu announced, "To provide a safe and bright nighttime passage environment for employees of resident companies and local residents, we will invest 200 million KRW in a large-scale replacement project for old security lights."
The reason for replacing the old security lights around the Songam Industrial Complex is due to energy inefficiency and low illumination.
Currently, the road width within the Songam Industrial Complex ranges from 9 to 18 meters, which is relatively wide, but the installed security lights are 40W class, resulting in low brightness that fails to illuminate the entire road brightly.
As a result, complaints about the darkness have frequently been raised among resident company officials and local residents, and Nam-gu requested special grants from Gwangju City to improve this situation and undertake large-scale maintenance.
The project is scheduled to be completed by early October.
In particular, the old security lights will be fully replaced with high-efficiency LED lights ranging from 50 to 125W to increase illumination, and new security lights will be installed in secluded areas where lighting is necessary.
The number of old security lights to be replaced is 120, and 10 new security lights will be installed.
Additionally, maintenance will be comprehensively carried out on flashers, pipes, and cables.
A Nam-gu official stated, "Once the project is completed, nighttime road lighting within the Songam Industrial Complex will be greatly improved, and energy costs will be reduced. We will do our best to improve the environment within the industrial complex so that employees of resident companies can work in a safe environment and make Nam-gu a better place for businesses."
