Installation of Banner-Type Taegukgi Flags in the 'Ungbu Park to Guaandong Station Section'
Campaign to Display the National Flag in Love of the Country on the 77th Anniversary of Liberation Day.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Andong City in Gyeongbuk is conducting a campaign to hang the national flag to celebrate the 77th Liberation Day, commemorate the restoration of national sovereignty, and practice patriotism.
To mark this Liberation Day, Andong City installed about 20 new banner-type Taegukgi flags along a 250m stretch from Ungbu Park in Yeongaro to the old Andong Station.
Moving away from the traditional pole-type flags, the banner-type Taegukgi was installed for the first time to maximize visual impact and create a street where the Taeguk waves ripple.
This change was made to revitalize the original downtown scenery and to allow promotional effects by hanging banner-type flags during various events.
Households, private companies, and organizations are encouraged to raise the national flag from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Liberation Day, and the city plans to display a large Taegukgi at the Talchum performance venue and hang street flags along major roads from August 13 to August 15.
If severe rain or wind threatens the dignity of the flag, it will not be displayed. In case of temporary bad weather, the flag can be raised after the weather clears or lowered and raised again.
Taegukgi flags can be purchased at the Internet Post Office, online Taegukgi vendors, and also at the city hall civil service office. Soiled or damaged flags can be placed in the flag collection box installed at the city hall civil service office.
Mayor Kwon Ki-chang said, “On the occasion of the 77th Liberation Day, I ask everyone to raise patriotism through proper display and management of the flag, and I urge not only households but also related organizations and private groups to actively participate in the national symbol Taegukgi hanging campaign.”
