Z Flip4 3700mAh Battery
Usage Time Extended by 3-4 Hours
Z Fold4 Weight Reduced to 263g
High-Performance Camera, High-Quality Night Shooting
[Asia Economy Reporters Hye-seon Lim and Min-young Cha] The heart of America, New York's Times Square, was bathed in purple light. From 4 PM local time on the 10th, for one hour, a collaborative video titled ‘Galaxy Z Flip4 X BTS’ was displayed across 15 screens in Times Square. The 4-minute 30-second music video-style footage depicts a BTS fan girl meeting BTS in a virtual space-time through the Z Flip4, conveying the experience from the girl's perspective. A 1-minute 30-second video expresses moments of new experiences through the Z Flip4 with BTS's unique positive energy.
Samsung Electronics launched the foldable phone (foldable smartphone) new models ‘Galaxy Z Flip4’ and ‘Galaxy Z Fold4’ to target the premium smartphone market in the second half of the year. They are lighter and more convenient, with prices maintained at the previous model's level. Samsung aims to widen the technology gap with Chinese smartphone manufacturers and realize the popularization of foldable phones to strengthen its market dominance. Internally, Samsung has set this year's foldable phone shipment target at over 15 million units, tripling last year's figure.
Faster Charging for Longer Use
One highlight of the ‘Z Flip4’ is the improved battery performance, which was a problem in the previous model. It is equipped with a 3700mAh battery (Typical), increasing usage time by 3 to 4 hours compared to its predecessor. Additionally, when using a charger of 25W or higher, it can charge up to 50% in about 30 minutes from 0% battery level.
It also offers various shooting features. The camera is equipped with a sensor that is 65% brighter than the previous model and uses the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 mobile platform, allowing users to take high-quality photos regardless of day or night. Using ‘Flex Mode,’ users can take selfies hands-free and enjoy convenient shooting. The ‘Quick Shot’ feature allows shooting with the high-resolution rear camera on the cover display without opening the smartphone.
Lighter Weight, High-Performance Camera
The ‘Z Fold4’ has reduced its weight from nearly 280g in the early models to 263g. It is about 8g lighter compared to the previous model. While the diagonal length remains the same, the aspect ratio (width-to-height ratio) has been improved to be closer to a square.
It features a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens and up to 30x Space Zoom, enabling high-quality photo and video shooting. The image sensor is 23% brighter than the previous model, allowing users to capture high-quality night shots. The newly added ‘Taskbar’ provides a PC-like layout, giving users easier access to frequently used and recently used applications. The ‘Under Display Camera (UDC)’ technology applied in the Fold3 has been further advanced. UDC hides the camera hole on the phone screen, and in the Fold4, visibility has been improved to enhance immersion.
Durability has also been strengthened. Armor aluminum is applied to the frame and hinge cover, and Corning Gorilla Victus Plus is used on the cover screen and rear glass to resist external shocks.
Helps with Sleep Analysis and Health Management
Another ambitious product, the ‘Galaxy Watch5’ series, offers a comprehensive health management experience that goes beyond simply recording exercise history to monitoring rest and recovery after workouts. After exercise, it automatically measures heart rate and recommends hydration levels. It can also measure blood pressure and electrocardiograms. The sleep management function, designed to cultivate healthy sleep habits, has been further enhanced. It analyzes sleep quality in four stages based on sleep depth and measures snoring and oxygen saturation during sleep, providing detailed information about the individual's sleep condition.
Meanwhile, recycled fishing nets have been used in the side key bracket and display connector cover of the ‘Z Fold4,’ the volume key bracket of the ‘Z Flip4,’ and the ‘Galaxy Buds2 Pro.’ In the case of the ‘Buds2 Pro,’ parts made from recycled materials account for 90% of the total device weight. Samsung is expected to use about 50 tons of recycled fishing nets this year. A significant amount of plastic has been removed from product packaging, and 100% recycled paper is applied. Through these new products, it is expected that approximately 51,000 trees can be preserved.
