[Asia Economy Reporter Sunmi Park] Samsung has opened a promotional center in Jamsil, Seoul, ahead of hosting Korea's first electric vehicle race, the '2022 Seoul E-PRIX.' With many domestic and international fans gathering for this world-class racing event, Samsung plans to simultaneously promote its electric vehicle electronic components technology and support the bid for the Busan Expo.

On the 11th, Samsung announced that four companies?Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Samsung SDI?will exhibit key electronic component technologies at the Samsung E-PRIX promotional center set up in the park in front of Jamsil Sports Complex until the 14th. The E-PRIX is a city-based round of the world's largest electric vehicle racing series, the 'Formula E Championship,' and will be held in Seoul on the 13th and 14th, following cities like Berlin, London, and New York.

Samsung Electronics is proposing new in-vehicle experience solutions that seamlessly connect home and mobile experiences inside cars by strengthening synergy with Harman in line with vehicle electrification and IT integration. They will also showcase automotive system semiconductors such as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and image sensors, demonstrating their leading technology in the mobility market.

Samsung Display will present digital cockpit OLEDs, including the 'Flex S,' a multi-foldable product with an 'S' shape, the 'Flex G,' which folds inward twice, and the 'Flex Note,' an IT foldable display featuring a 17.3-inch panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics will exhibit ultra-high-capacity MLCCs for electronic components, which are increasingly used in electric and autonomous vehicles, along with various functional camera modules. Additionally, they will introduce high-resolution SVM (Surround View Monitoring) cameras that assist in accurately recognizing surrounding situations and objects during automatic parking or autonomous driving, defrost cameras equipped with PTC heaters (automatic temperature control heaters) that remove foreign substances such as frost and moisture from lens surfaces, and IRIS (variable aperture) cameras that adjust light levels to enhance recognition accuracy in various environments, enabling smooth autonomous driving.

Samsung SDI has designed its booth with content that visitors can easily engage with. Alongside promoting the battery brand 'Prismatic,' first unveiled at CES 2022 in January, they will showcase battery performance and quality using kiosks and touchscreens.

Samsung will also conduct activities to support the bid for the '2030 Busan World Expo' through this promotional center.

On both sides outside the promotional center, 160-inch LED displays will continuously show videos related to electronic components as well as videos supporting the Busan Expo bid, and visitors will be given brochures from the bid committee. A Samsung official stated, "We will introduce Samsung's technology embedded throughout electric vehicles at the site of Korea's first electric vehicle race through this promotional center," adding, "We expect this to be an opportunity to highlight Samsung's efforts for next-generation mobility as well as the campaign to attract the Busan Expo for a smart innovation powerhouse."
