[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] The Jung-gu Council of Seoul (Chairperson Gil Gi-young) visited the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters situation room at Jung-gu Office, which is operating under an emergency duty system due to heavy rain concentrated in the metropolitan area, on the 9th.

On this day, Chairperson Gil Gi-young, Vice Chairperson Yoon Pan-oh, Councilors Heo Sang-wook, So Jae-kwon, Lee Jung-mi, and Song Jae-cheon attended together to receive reports on the current weather conditions, damage status, and response measures in Jung-gu, and to convey their opinions to the officials.

They also encouraged the staff working in the situation room under emergency duty and urged them to ensure thoroughness in their work.

Following this, the councilors headed to Daehyeonsan Reservoir Park in Donghwa-dong. The high retaining wall around Daehyeonsan Reservoir is located very close to a densely populated residential area, raising concerns about accidents caused by cracks in the wall during heavy rain.

After inspecting the area around Daehyeonsan Reservoir with on-site officials, the councilors repeatedly emphasized thorough preparedness for any emergency and proactive measures to ensure residents' safety.

Chairperson Gil Gi-young said, “Although it is vacation season, I deeply appreciate the hard work of the staff on emergency duty. Since continuous rainfall is expected until next week, I ask that all efforts be made to prevent flood and water damage so that residents suffer no harm.”

The Gwangjin-gu Council (Chairperson Chu Yoon-gu) visited the Gwangjin Police Station on the 10th to have a time of communication regarding local issues.

This visit was arranged to share the direction of legislative activities following the launch of the 9th Gwangjin-gu Council and to establish a system of communication and cooperation between the Gwangjin-gu Council and the Gwangjin Police Station regarding current issues. Attendees included Chairperson Chu Yoon-gu, Vice Chairperson Shin Jin-ho, Operations Committee Chair Jang Gil-cheon, Planning and Administration Committee Chair Kim Mi-young, Welfare and Construction Committee Chair Kim Kang-san, Gwangjin Police Station Chief Choi Jun-young, and other police officials.

The chairpersons emphasized the need for organic cooperation and communication channels between the council and the police station to minimize blind spots in the area and ensure the safety of residents, and also proposed strengthening publicity for new traffic regulations.

Chairperson Chu Yoon-gu said, “For the safety and security of residents, let the council and police station communicate and cooperate, and do our best together to promote residents’ happiness and regional development.”
