Discussion on "In-depth Analysis of Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey and Directions for the Development of Korean Medicine"
[The Asia Business Daily Ye Jonggu] The National Institute for Korean Medicine Development held the 2nd Korean Medicine Academy on August 10 in the seminar room of its Seoul branch, under the theme "In-depth Analysis of Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey and Directions for the Development of Korean Medicine."
This academy was organized to seek ways to improve the quality of herbal medicine and to develop the preparation and sales of herbal medicine, through an in-depth analysis (including the current status of herbal medicine consumption and factors influencing its use) utilizing data from the 2021 Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey.
First, Lee Jihyun, Head of Future Strategy at the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, shared the main findings of the herbal medicine consumption survey and trends in the herbal medicine industry, under the topic "2021 Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey Basic Report Results and Time Series Analysis."
Kim Dongsu, a professor at Dongshin University, presented on "2021 Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey In-Depth Analysis and Policy Proposals," announcing the results of his analysis on factors affecting the use of external herbal dispensaries, changes in prescription herbal medicine, and the use of herbal medicine preparations at Korean medicine institutions, as well as findings from in-depth interview surveys on herbal medicine consumption.
Next, during an expert panel discussion chaired by Baek Yusang, Director of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, participants focused on an in-depth analysis of the herbal medicine consumption survey and its policy implications.
Jung Changhyun, President of the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, commented, "The biennial survey on the use of Korean medicine and herbal medicine consumption is a nationally approved statistic with a high level of reliability, which can be used in actual policy formulation and development. We will do our utmost to ensure that the 2022 survey on the use of Korean medicine, currently being conducted by the National Institute for Korean Medicine Development, also produces reliable results."
The Korean Medicine Academy will continue to be held through the third and fourth quarters, focusing on future policy directions and implementation tasks for Korean medicine. In addition to the field of Korean medicine, it will also be conducted in various formats, such as seminars, forums, lectures by distinguished speakers, and panel discussions, aiming for interdisciplinary convergence and innovation in related fields, including natural sciences and the humanities and social sciences.
