[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] The Chinese Embassy in Korea issued a statement on the 10th criticizing the United States regarding the Taiwan issue, saying it is "spreading absurd logic and slandering." This statement came amid escalating US-China tensions following the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.

In three statements distributed to Korean media on the same day under the spokesperson's name, the Chinese Embassy in Korea stated, "The United States repeatedly spreads absurd logic daily regarding Taiwan-related issues, unilaterally accusing China's legitimate training and countermeasures of changing the current situation and undermining regional stability."

It added, "This is purely a distortion of facts and an act of impudence," and questioned, "Who caused the problem first during the rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait?"

The Chinese Embassy in Korea emphasized, "The United States ignores China's persuasion and warnings and acts according to its own will," and "The US provoked and caused the problem first, and China’s subsequent countermeasures were legitimate."

It continued, "The two sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China, and Taiwan is part of China," and "The vast majority of countries recognize and support the fundamental framework of the One-China principle."

It also criticized the US, saying, "The United States has violated the commitments made in the three China-US joint communiques and is increasingly moving toward nullifying and distorting the One-China principle."

Furthermore, regarding the US, it added, "The United States continuously promotes arms sales to Taiwan, openly supports Taiwan’s so-called expansion of 'international space,' and backs separatist forces advocating 'Taiwan independence.'"

The Chinese Embassy in Korea plans to release a total of seven statements related to the Taiwan issue within this week.
