Goheung-gun Confirms 3.7 Billion KRW for Second Half of 2022 Return-to-Farming Startup and Housing Funds

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Sim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) held a review meeting for the ‘2022 Second Half Return-to-Farming Agricultural Startup and Housing Purchase Support Project’ on the 26th of last month at the Palyongsan Hall of Goheung County Office, confirming the allocation of 3.7 billion KRW (3 billion for startups, 700 million for housing) for 30 review candidates.

Accordingly, on the 9th, a briefing session on project implementation and loan execution for stable settlement in Goheung was held for project recipients at the Palyongsan Hall of Goheung County Office.

As a result of recruiting loan applicants targeting returnees to farming and non-agricultural residents in rural villages, a total of 34 people (6.3 billion KRW) applied and were received.

The county reviewed eligibility and suitability such as the number of returnees, completion of education, and residence period, conducted a second on-site evaluation, and finally completed the selection of project recipients through in-depth screening of farming settlement motivation, loan repayment plans, and appropriateness of business plans.

Meanwhile, in the first half of the year, 2.5 billion KRW was confirmed for 25 people as agricultural startup and housing purchase funds for returnees to farming. Thus, Goheung-gun will support a total of 5.5 billion KRW in return-to-farming loans for 55 people in 2022.

Project recipients can receive loans with a maximum of 300 million KRW for agricultural startup funds and up to 75 million KRW for housing funds, at an annual interest rate of 2%, with a 5-year grace period and 10 years of equal principal repayment.

Additionally, project recipients can receive interest subsidies on return-to-farming loans: up to 2 million KRW for years 1 to 3, and up to 1 million KRW for years 4 to 5 within the interest paid.

Since the start of the 8th local government administration, Goheung-gun has established a comprehensive annual plan for the local community to support the stable settlement of returnees to farming, fishing, and rural areas, and plans to focus administrative efforts on attracting young populations through projects such as the Goheung Youth ‘Return Goheung’ project and ‘Living in Goheung for 3 Months’ for urban youth.

A county official stated, “We plan to discover and support various projects to help returnees to farming, fishing, and rural areas settle stably in the region.”
