[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The National Jeongdong Theater announced on the 10th that it will stage the original musical "Human Exploration Life," which combines SF drama, musical, and Shakespearean play.

The production will be performed on the National Jeongdong Theater_Cecil stage from the 13th to the 28th. A talk with the audience is also scheduled for the 16th.

The story depicts Utopians on the twin planet Utopia of Earth in the future world, who have gained immortality through cell proliferation. To prevent destruction, they study the play "Romeo and Juliet" discovered on the ruined "Earth," leading to the unfolding events.

Previously, a reading performance was held in 2018 with support from Tumblbug. After four years of revising the script and music and adding choreography, lighting, and sound, it now meets the audience. The director is playwright Pyo Sangah, who won the Best Script Award at the 6th Korean Musical Awards for "Who Lives in the Kuroi Mansion?" and writer Nam Hyunjung also participated.

Composers Yoo Sujin of "One Day" and "Obangjanggun" and Cheon Piljae, former head of the NCSoft music team, jointly created the music, expressing the SF worldview with synth-pop and retro-style music. Choreographer Jeong Doyeong, known for "Bare the Musical" and "That Day," also joins.

Musical actors Lee Hanmil, Noh Heechan, Lee Woojong, Ryu Bi, and Lee Hanbyeol play five Utopians named EBS, USB, TOP, JYP, and DDP, portraying cheerful comic performances and a desperate fight to prevent destruction.

The National Jeongdong Theater_Cecil discovers next-generation artists and presents experimental and challenging original works through "Changjaking." "Human Exploration Life" is the second work following the play "Casanova" in July.
