[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Comedian Kim Won-hyo, known for his catchphrase "Andwae," is joining the war against voice phishing.
Voice phishing schemes using bait such as low-interest refinancing loans and methods that lure people in their 20s and 30s into voice phishing crimes by pretending to offer high-paying part-time jobs have recently surged amid the economic downturn.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency produced a public service advertisement using comedian Kim Won-hyo's voice as a talent donation to help citizens be alert to and respond to frequently occurring voice phishing tactics.
The public service advertisement covers four common voice phishing methods: impersonation of low-interest loan services, impersonation of children or acquaintances, impersonation of public or financial institutions, and impersonation of high-paying part-time jobs.
The police agency cleverly incorporated comedian Kim Won-hyo's popular catchphrase "Andwae~" to make it easy for citizens to remember.
The produced public service advertisement will be broadcast during announcements on all city bus routes in Busan from the 10th of this month until September 9th, in collaboration with the Busan City Hall Bus Operations Department.
Additionally, it will be aired in government offices, subways, and light rail transit systems to enhance promotional effects.
Comedian Kim Won-hyo generously donated his voice talent without a fee, and the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency presented him with a certificate of appreciation.
Since January 2020, the police agency's comprehensive promotional efforts for voice phishing prevention have led to a continuous decrease in voice phishing damages in Busan.
A police official stated, “We urge citizens to recognize that public and financial institutions never ask for money under any circumstances and to avoid being deceived by voice phishing crimes.”
