On the 10th, Park Dae-woo, chairman of the Minsaengdang Gwangju City Party, issued a press release stating, "We strongly condemn the Democratic Party for disappointing citizens with its lenient punishment of incumbent city council members and protecting its own members."

He argued, "We cannot help but lament the fact that the Democratic Party effectively granted a pardon to an incumbent city council member who caused profound disappointment to citizens through unacceptable corruption and behavior."

He continued, "In a structure where the Democratic Party monopolizes power, deciding on a punishment below common sense simply because the individual is an incumbent with voting rights is mocking the citizens and revealing political incompetence."

He also added, "It is shocking that a city council member, who should set an example and establish social standards, was involved in unforgivable criminal acts such as violations of the Minimum Wage Act and the Labor Standards Act. Even now, the party must recognize the citizens' anger and frustration over the lenient punishment of a one-month suspension of party duties and make a political decision."
