The First Exhibition in the Opened Cheongwadae Features Artists with Disabilities

The First Exhibition in the Opened Cheongwadae Features Artists with Disabilities Artists participating in the Blue House 'Special Exhibition for Artists with Disabilities' attended a meeting held at the Blue House Press Hall on the 9th to share their opinions.


The first art exhibition will be held at the open Cheongwadae. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Federation of Organizations of the Disabled Culture and Arts announced on the 10th that a 'Special Exhibition of Disabled Artists' will be held on the 31st on the second floor of the Cheongwadae Chunghugwan. This is the first event of the Cheongwadae Complex Culture and Arts Space project. President Yoon Seok-yeol instructed during the recent Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism briefing, "Secure many exhibition spaces for disabled artists, emerging artists, and young artists, and greatly increase exhibition opportunities."


Chunghugwan was formerly used as the president's press conference room. Fifty disabled artists, including Kim Hyun-woo and Jung Eun-hye, are participating in the exhibition. On the day, they toured the exhibition site and shared opinions on planning and concepts. Bae Eun-joo, representative of the Korea Federation of Organizations of the Disabled Culture and Arts, said, "It is meaningful and joyful to hold the first special exhibition at the open Cheongwadae," adding, "I feel a heavy responsibility as it carries significant social meaning." Artist Bang Doo-young said, "Disabled culture and arts are the only medium that gives dreams and hope to disabled people," and added, "I also look forward to a system that supports senior, mid-career, and emerging artists evenly." Artist Lee Jeong-hee said, "There used to be voices of exclusion dividing disabled and non-disabled, but I hope this exhibition will be a place where everyone enjoys together."
