[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, urged the Democratic Party on the 10th to "stop obstructing state affairs by holding public safety hostage" after the failure to adopt the confirmation hearing report for Yoon Hee-geun, the nominee for Commissioner General of the National Police Agency.

On the same day, Floor Leader Kwon posted on Facebook, stating, "No flaws or disqualifications were found regarding the nominee, and it was an exemplary hearing that sufficiently demonstrated his capabilities and qualifications as Commissioner General of the National Police Agency," adding, "Suddenly, the Democratic Party refused to adopt the confirmation hearing report. The reason is also absurd."

He criticized, "They claim that the nominee's stance on the establishment of the Police Bureau is unclear, but this is nothing more than opposition for the sake of opposition and obstruction of state affairs."

He continued, "The Democratic Party's intention is clear," saying, "They have created all the conditions for the president to forcibly appoint the nominee without adopting the confirmation hearing report, and then attack the president by calling it a bypass or nullification of the hearing, trying to shake state affairs," adding, "The Democratic Party's unreasonable obstruction of state affairs by using public safety and people's livelihood as tools for political strife must now stop."
