Comprehensive Property Insurance and Special Disaster Support Funds Offered to GS25 Franchise Owners Affected by Natural Disasters
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] GS Retail announced on the 10th that it delivered emergency relief supplies to residents of Seocho-gu who were affected by the heavy rain concentrated in the central region on the 9th through the Korean Red Cross.
The relief supplies delivered this time consisted mainly of food items needed by the affected residents, such as lunch boxes, bananas, and bottled water. GS Retail explained, "Due to the sudden heavy rain, the damage to residents in the area is significant, and we judged that help would be needed, so we urgently coordinated with the Korean Red Cross to provide emergency support using products from nearby logistics centers." GS Retail employees in charge of the affected area also voluntarily participated in unloading and organizing the supplies. Additional support is being considered as the affected area expands.
GS25 also stated that it operates the industry's first "Special Disaster Support Fund" system to support franchise owners' personal property damage caused by natural disasters. The focus is on supporting franchise owners' personal property damage caused by typhoons, heavy rain, and other natural disasters. The special disaster support fund, which was previously provided only to headquarters employees, is now being extended to franchise owners. Franchise owners' business property damage caused by natural disasters can be covered by the comprehensive property insurance supported by GS25, and personal property damage can be supported by the special disaster support fund from the headquarters. The recipients of the special disaster support fund are all franchise owners whose houses or farmland registered under their names have been damaged by natural disasters. The support amount is determined in stages considering the degree of house damage and the level of farmland flooding, with a maximum support amount of 1 million KRW per damage case.
Meanwhile, GS Retail is carrying out community-friendly activities such as emergency disaster relief, support for socially marginalized groups, and environmental cleanup centered on its nationwide business network, including GS25 and GS The Fresh.
