[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Gun-chan] Due to heavy rain in Seoul, vehicle traffic is being restricted on certain sections of Olympic-daero and Gangbyeonbuk-ro, causing expected difficulties during the morning commute. Subway services are operating normally.
As of 7 a.m. on the 10th, Seoul is experiencing a lull as rain clouds move southward. The heavy rain warning issued for Seoul and the metropolitan area at 2 a.m. has mostly been lifted. Strong rain of around 20-30mm is falling mainly in Chungcheong, southern Gangwon, and northern Gyeongbuk regions. Overnight, rain clouds are moving northward again, and rain is expected to fall once more in Seoul.
All sections of the Seoul subway are operating normally. According to the Seoul Transportation Information System (TOPIS), the track between Hwajeong and Wondang stations on Line 3 was flooded around 6 p.m. the previous day, causing partial service suspension, but it was restored within 30 minutes and service resumed. Line 9, which suffered severe rain damage, also resumed full operation in the afternoon of the previous day.
Vehicle traffic is being restricted on some urban expressway sections. Since 10:20 p.m. the previous day, both directions of Olympic-daero between Gayang Bridge and Dongjak Bridge have been closed. Traffic is also limited on the Banpo Bridge submerged road, the one-way sections of Gangbyeonbuk-ro from Mapo Bridge to Hangang Bridge, and from Dongjak Bridge to Hangang Bridge.
Vehicle traffic is also restricted on some city roads. Traffic is blocked in both directions at eight locations, including Nodle-ro from Yeoui upstream to Hangang Bridge and Yanghwa Bridge to Yeoui downstream sections.
