[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] "Even grandmothers in their 80s create content using OnAir Studio."

On the 11th, Jung Seunghwan, CEO of Ryan Rocket, introduced his company's video production platform, OnAir Studio, saying, "For beginners, it would take several days to cast, shoot, record, and edit a 10-minute video, but anyone can easily and quickly create videos by utilizing virtual models and artificial intelligence (AI) voices."

Ryan Rocket is a company that owns core technologies in deep learning-based voice and video synthesis. They operate the OnAir Studio platform, which allows AI to complete dubbing, subtitles, and video production all at once with simple operations such as text input, without complicated video production programs.

OnAir Studio offers 9 AI characters and 36 AI voices based on age, gender, and situational concepts. Therefore, there is no need to spend money on casting, and voice can be created from text alone, eliminating the need for separate recording. Recognized for this convenience, the number of OnAir Studio users is rapidly increasing. The cumulative number of subscribers this year is five times higher than from January to May last year, and the number of produced contents has increased more than fourfold during the same period.

CEO Jung said, "Recently, elderly teachers have been inquiring a lot about video production methods to prepare for non-face-to-face classes," adding, "Providing virtual model and AI voice functions in an intuitively operable PowerPoint (PPT) slide format file has been effective, and sales have increased tenfold compared to two years ago."

Jung decided to start a business with two university classmates while creating audiobooks for the visually impaired. The trigger was seeing a video of a visually impaired child lamenting, "There are no storybooks to read," which led him to dive into developing speech synthesis engine technology (TTS) that converts text into audio. They still provide technology for projects supporting people with disabilities, and last year participated in the AI Voucher project by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, collaborating with two companies, one of which was selected as an excellent company for a braille book publishing project.

Perhaps due to this unique founding background, Ryan Rocket focuses more on the B2C (business-to-consumer) market than other AI platforms. His philosophy is the ‘creator economy,’ which lowers technical hurdles for amateur creators so they can generate revenue. However, targeting the B2C market, unlike B2B (business-to-business), requires more sophisticated technology. To satisfy general consumers, it is necessary to maintain content quality while reducing production costs and time. Ryan Rocket holds a core patent for ‘lip-sync synthesis using artificial neural networks’ to solve this. This technology, which creates high-quality content with only about 30 minutes of data, is Ryan Rocket’s key competitive advantage that differentiates it from other platforms.

Founded in 2019, Ryan Rocket has received a total of 7.7 billion KRW in investments, including 6.5 billion KRW in Series A funding from ID Ventures, Daesung Startup Investment, Harang Technology Investment, and IBK Industrial Bank. They plan to raise Series B funding early next year. They are also preparing to launch another AI service to help overseas consumers in North America and the Middle East overcome unique cultural and technical hurdles. CEO Jung stated, "Ryan Rocket aims not only to innovate the way content is created but also to revolutionize the way content is enjoyed," expressing his ambition, "Through upcoming services, we will provide a new level of enjoyment and immersion never experienced before."
