Jin-tae Kim's Gangwon Province Administration Achieves First Success in 'Attracting Companies' with 50.7 Billion Won Investment Agreement Gangwon Province, Wonju City, and the Gangwon Regional Headquarters of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation signed an investment agreement worth a total of 50.7 billion KRW with three companies from the Seoul metropolitan area on the 9th at the Gangwon Provincial Office. [Asia Economy Reporter La Young-chul] Gangwon Province, under the 8th local government, achieved its first success in attracting companies since Governor Kim Jin-tae's inauguration by signing investment agreements worth a total of 50.7 billion KRW with three companies located in the Seoul metropolitan area.


These companies plan to build new factories by October 2024 on a site of approximately 24,000㎡ within the Munmak-Bangye General Industrial Complex in Wonju City and will create about 260 new jobs.


Mycel, located in Gunpo City, Gyeonggi Province, is a bio-material research and development company that started as an in-house venture of Hyundai Motor Company and was founded in 2020. It will invest 11.1 billion KRW to establish a new factory and produce vegan leather and vegan food products using mushroom mycelium.


Freshone, a meat wholesale corporation founded in Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province, plans to invest 18.1 billion KRW and employ 165 people to produce ready-to-eat retort meals, seasoned meat, and dried preserved meat.


Renew System, a waterproof material specialist headquartered in Sangam-dong, Seoul, will invest 21.5 billion KRW to equip facilities and produce eco-friendly plastic raw materials by completely decomposing waste plastic.


The investment agreement ceremony held at Gangwon Provincial Office was attended by Governor Kim Jin-tae of Gangwon Province, Wonju Mayor Won Kang-soo, Kwon Oh-sung, Head of the Gangwon Regional Headquarters of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Mycel CEO Sa Seong-jin, Freshone CEO Park Yeon-su, and Renew System CEO Lee Jong-yong.


Yoon In-jae, Director of the Global Investment and Trade Bureau of Gangwon Province, said, "We welcome these three companies with unlimited growth potential to the land of opportunity, Gangwon," and added, "We will spare no support to help all three companies leap into global enterprises."
