[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] It has been reported that ticket purchases for exhibitions surged in the first half of this year through various exhibitions such as the Lee Kun-hee Collection and the Tim Burton exhibition.


On the 9th, Interpark analyzed exhibition products sold from January to June this year and found that the transaction amount in the first half of this year increased by 81% and the number of users increased by 59% compared to the same period last year. It is analyzed that customers enjoying exhibitions as leisure activities are increasing along with the endemic.


The users consisted of 75.3% women and 24.7% men, with a slight increase in the proportion of male visitors (+3.4%p) compared to last year. By age group, the order was 20s (39.3%), 30s (34.2%), 40s (17.5%), 50s and above (8.1%), and teens (0.9%).


The most popular exhibition in terms of the number of visitors in the first half of this year was 'An Invitation from a Collector - The 1st Anniversary Exhibition of the Late Chairman Lee Kun-hee's Donation.' This exhibition attracted great public interest as many works that had drawn attention were unveiled, and online tickets were completely sold out until the exhibition's closing date on the 28th.


The 2nd place was the 'Tim Burton Special Exhibition,' 3rd was the 'Salvador Dal? Exhibition,' 4th was 'By Chance Wes Anderson,' and 5th was 'Red Room.' Notably, more than half of the top 15 popular exhibitions were painting exhibitions, confirming the high popularity of painting exhibitions where visitors can directly appreciate masterpieces by great artists.


An Interpark official said, "With the endemic, the number of customers visiting exhibition halls is increasing, and the exhibition sector continues to grow," adding, "As the customer base enjoying exhibitions diversifies, we plan to present many famous exhibitions in the second half of the year as well."
