Deficit Hydrogen Refueling Stations to Receive Fuel Purchase Subsidies

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] The Korea Automobile Environment Association, a non-profit organization, announced that it will support fuel purchase costs for hydrogen charging stations operating at a deficit to promote the activation of hydrogen charging stations under the commission of the Ministry of Environment.

The association stated on the 9th that it will provide fuel purchase cost support to operators who have hydrogen charging station operation records in the first half of this year.

The support amount is calculated by multiplying the support unit price by the hydrogen sales volume (kg) in the first half of the year. The support unit price is 70% of the difference between the fuel purchase unit price and the standard unit price. The total support amount is limited to within 80% of the total deficit. However, if 80% of the deficit exceeds 35 million KRW but the fuel cost support amount is less than 35 million KRW due to low sales volume, 35 million KRW will be conditionally supported.

This year's support budget is a total of 15.2 billion KRW. In the first half of this year, support of 3.5 billion KRW (an average of 58 million KRW per station) was completed for 61 charging stations. However, hydrogen charging stations directly operated by local governments or established for research purposes are excluded from the support target.

Once the support recipients are confirmed through the application process for the support project by the 19th, the final confirmed subsidy will be granted around October. Operators wishing to participate in the support project can download the forms from the Korea Automobile Environment Association by the 19th and submit the business participation application, support application, and supporting documents after filling them out.
