[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 9th that it conducted a ‘Love Sharing Blood Donation Campaign’ at the city hall plaza.
This campaign aims to overcome the difficulty in blood supply caused by the decrease in group and individual blood donations due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, with employees taking the lead and setting an example.
The ‘Love Blood Donation Movement,’ held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. that day, was carried out through the voluntary participation of city hall officials, related organizations, and groups.
Recently, due to the escalation of social distancing measures following the spread of COVID-19, group blood donations have been repeatedly canceled, and individual donations have also declined, putting the blood supply in an emergency situation.
The city conducts blood donation campaigns four times a year targeting public officials and related organizations to alleviate concerns about blood donation and foster a participatory atmosphere, ensuring a stable blood supply.
Additionally, Jeongeup Blood Donation Center operates every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to encourage citizens to participate in blood donation.
Anyone in the community can participate in blood donation, and as of 2022, a total of 1,807 citizens have joined blood donation activities, including group and individual donations.
Participants receive seven types of medical tests, including blood type, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, and liver function tests, as well as a gift certificate worth approximately 10,000 KRW per donation.
A city official stated, “The blood donation campaign is an act of neighborly love that shares precious life, a practice of love for oneself, beloved family, and ultimately for all of us. We hope for continued interest and active participation to sustain this love.”
