Announcement of Plans for Normalizing Academic Operations and Supporting Quarantine Supplies in the Second Semester
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] The Gyeongbuk Office of Education announced the '2nd Semester Quarantine and Academic Operation Plan,' which focuses on support for quarantine supplies and personnel, normal attendance, and the principle of face-to-face classes.
On the 4th, the Ministry of Education announced the '2022 2nd Semester Quarantine and Academic Operation Plan for Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle, and Special Schools, and Universities.'
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education, reflecting the Ministry of Education's guidelines, will first strengthen quarantine measures for safe schools.
After the start of the semester, two rapid antigen test kits will be provided to all students and staff, which differs from the proactive testing conducted in the 1st semester regardless of symptoms, as these will be distributed to homes for use when symptoms appear.
Together with the Education Support Office, they will inspect the status of quarantine supplies stockpiles and support 4,030 quarantine personnel to alleviate the quarantine burden on schools.
Regarding academic operations, normal attendance is the principle, and decisions to switch entirely to remote classes at the school level will be made cautiously, with face-to-face classes preferred whenever possible.
However, if the situation worsens, flexible academic operations at the class or grade level are possible according to the school's own standards.
Support for confirmed students taking exams will be maximized, and home study can be applied for up to 60 days annually, including other off-campus experiential learning. When participating in overnight experiential learning such as school trips or training activities, prior notice will be given to ensure participation only after confirming a negative COVID-19 test within 24 hours before the event to ensure safe operation.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik emphasized, “Our Office of Education will actively block the introduction of infection risk factors within schools and strive to maintain intact educational activities through thorough responses,” adding, “We plan to actively support school sites in the 2nd semester by establishing a stable quarantine and academic operation system.”
