[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] President Yoon Suk-yeol once again emphasized communication with the public during the policy implementation process on the 9th. Addressing the confusion caused by the 'age 5 school entry' education system reform plan, he stated, "We must actively reflect the voices from the field and fully consider the impact the policy will have on the field."

President Yoon made these remarks while presiding over the Cabinet meeting held at the Government Seoul Office in the morning, saying, "All of us here, including myself and the Cabinet members, must carefully examine whether we are properly carrying out the will of the people."

In particular, President Yoon said, "During the vacation period, reflecting on the time since I started politics, I deeply reaffirmed that the beginning, direction, and goal are all the people," adding, "We must not miss even the breath of the people and must constantly communicate for this purpose." Considering the various controversies that arose during the recent vacation period, President Yoon intends to increase communication with the public. At his first official appearance after returning the day before, he emphasized, "What I must do for the people is to carefully observe their will," and pledged, "I will keep my original intention."

He also urged that sufficient understanding and sympathy from the public be sought during the policy implementation process. President Yoon said, "We must actively reflect the voices from the field and fully consider the impact the policy will have on the field," adding, "Since this is directly related to the government's trust, I ask the Cabinet members to carefully manage this."

Meanwhile, at the Cabinet meeting that day, three laws including the Individual Consumption Tax Act, Income Tax Act, and Transportation·Energy·Environment Tax Act were enacted to ease the burden of high prices by expanding the possible reduction range of fuel tax and doubling the non-taxable limit for workers' meal expenses for the first time in 19 years. President Yoon said, "I would like to take this opportunity to deeply thank the National Assembly's Special Committee on Livelihood, which was launched on July 20, and the swift bipartisan cooperation leading to the plenary session resolution on August 2."
