[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Biohealthcare company Rokit Healthcare announced on the 9th that it will provide a hyper-personalized medical platform utilizing 3D bioprinting and AI technology based on Google Cloud to innovate the treatment of osteoarthritis and diabetic foot (diabetic foot ulcer).
Rokit Healthcare's AI solution uses computer vision and deep learning technology to accurately recognize the patient's affected area and prints a patch of the same size and shape as the affected area with a 3D printer. The company explained that this not only increases the treatment rate of chronic and complex diseases but also improves medical accessibility in underserved areas and reduces medical costs.
A Rokit Healthcare official said, “Rokit Healthcare migrated its existing infrastructure to Google Cloud and utilized Google Cloud's AI tools to expand its proprietary medical platform and other solutions,” adding, “By using Google Cloud's scalable high-performance load balancing service Cloud Load Balancing and the fully managed Kubernetes service Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), we have built a system that can stably operate and scale the medical platform across multiple regions.”
An efficient MLOps (machine learning operations) environment was also one of the reasons for choosing Google Cloud. They introduced Google Cloud's network security solution Cloud Armor, which protects applications and services from DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks using machine learning technology.
By utilizing VPC Service Control, a managed networking feature for Google Cloud resources, they mitigated the risk of data leakage by allowing access to critical information only on authenticated networks.
Jang Hwajin, President of Google Cloud Korea, said, “Through this collaboration, Rokit Healthcare can provide innovative treatment solutions for chronic diseases that previously had insufficient treatment methods,” and added, “They also enhanced the stability and scalability of the medical platform with Google Cloud solutions including Vertex AI.”
Yoo Seokhwan, CEO of Rokit Healthcare, emphasized, “With this collaboration with Google Cloud, we will be able to execute Rokit Healthcare's vision to change the medical paradigm more quickly,” and said, “We plan to rapidly expand solutions that enable short-term treatment at low cost by building a medical platform that can harness the collective intelligence of doctors worldwide.”
