In the Heatwave, 'Eolbaksa' is the Best! ... POSCO Pohang Steelworks' Cool Summer Moments The Equipment Technology Department at Pohang Steelworks conducted a "Heatwave Safety Communication Encouragement Activity" at the end of July and held an event providing special beverages to employees.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] POSCO Pohang Steelworks carried out various employee encouragement activities at each department to support employees exhausted by the hot weather.


The Equipment Technology Department at Pohang Steelworks held a ‘Heatwave Safety Communication Encouragement Activity’ at the end of July and hosted an event providing employees with ‘Eolbaksa’ (Ice + Bacchus + Cider).


‘Eolbaksa’ is a fatigue recovery drink made from a recently popular ‘honey combination’ recipe, and on this day, Lim Ji-woo, head of the Equipment Technology Department, personally prepared the special drink for the employees.


Employees of the Equipment Technology Department who received the Eolbaksa drink and snacks said, “The heatwave came early this year, causing many difficulties on site, but drinking the specially made cool beverage helped us forget the heat even for a moment.”


POSCO’s Equipment Materials Purchasing Office held an event to share coolness together with suppliers.


Employees of the Equipment Materials Purchasing Office carried out the ‘Smile Plus’ activity, handing out cool bottled water with bright smiles to supplier employees visiting the Pohang and Gwangyang Equipment Delivery Centers for material deliveries, sharing a total of 1,000 bottles of water with supplier employees over two days on the 26th and 27th of last month.


Meanwhile, a department that overcame the heat in a unique way attracted attention.


The Ironmaking Department at Pohang Steelworks visited Haedo-dong, its sister village, on the 28th of last month to enjoy a ‘market tour’ at the Daehae Bulbit Market. The Ironmaking Department conducts market tours on the fourth Thursday of every month to help revitalize the local commercial district.


Choi Gyu-taek, head of the Ironmaking Department at Pohang Steelworks, said, “We conduct market tours to share the love POSCO receives with the local commercial district,” adding, “We hope that the employees’ joyful spending will, even in a small way, help the traditional market merchants overcome the hot summer.”
