‘Learning Regions and Cities through Domestic Travel’ … Professor Kim Jeong-ryeol of Daegu University Publishes Book on Domestic City Travel Experiences Professor Kim Jeong-ryeol, Daegu University.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Professor Kim Jeong-ryeol of Daegu University published a book titled "Learning About Regions and Cities Through Domestic Travel," which compares governance encountered in regions and cities through travel and compiles excellent administrative cases.

Professor Kim published the book "Social Exploration Through World Travel," which focused on the impact of local autonomy and slow cities on national competitiveness, two years ago.

This new publication highlights the fact that the number of competitive global cities or slow cities owned by countries has become a new measure of national competitiveness.

In particular, as competition between cities rather than countries has begun to attract attention due to globalization and localization trends, the book describes firsthand experiences regarding regional development, citizen happiness, and city branding pursued by regions and cities.

It cites various cases such as the harmony between urban redevelopment and urban regeneration as quantitative means of regional development, strengthening local autonomy and lifelong education directly linked to qualitative citizen happiness, specialized development based on city branding, and the realization of ecological cities.

Professor Kim Jeong-ryeol said, "This book will be very helpful as a preparatory interview guide for public service exam candidates preparing to enter the public sector from the perspective of local autonomy and governance."
