Visited Cage Fish Farms in Tongyeong Sanyang-eup Area to Check Measures and More
Members of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council visited cage fish farms in the Sanyang-eup area of Tongyeong City to inspect the progress of measures against high water temperatures and red tides.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council Chairman Kim Jin-bu, First Vice Chairman Choi Hak-beom, Second Vice Chairman Kang Yong-beom, Council Operations Committee Chairman Shin Jong-cheol, Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Committee Chairman Baek Su-myung, and Assemblymen Kang Seong-jung and Kim Tae-gyu visited cage aquaculture farms in the Sanyang-eup area of Tongyeong City on the 8th to inspect the progress of measures against high water temperature and red tide.
In recent years, the seawater temperature during summer has been rising, and last year, due to high water temperature, 7.61 million fish died in aquaculture farms in the Gyeongnam region, causing significant damage.
A high water temperature advisory is issued when the seawater temperature reaches 28℃, and a high water temperature warning is issued if the temperature remains above 28℃ for more than three days.
This field inspection was conducted to check the progress of measures against high water temperature and red tide and to listen to fishermen's suggestions, following the first expanded issuance of a high water temperature advisory in the Gangjin Bay and Sacheon Bay areas last month on the 6th.
Chairman Kim said, “To minimize the damage to fishermen caused by high water temperature and red tide phenomena, the Gyeongnam Provincial Council will thoroughly manage everything from preventive activities to damage response measures.”
