'Taeil' Wins Audience Award at Fantasia Film Festival

"Solid Completion and Meaningful Message, Resonating with Overseas Audiences"

'Taeil' Wins Audience Award at Fantasia Film Festival

The film 'Taeil' won the Audience Award (Bronze) in the feature animation category at Fantasia International Film Festival, the largest genre festival in North America. Production company Myung Films announced the award on the 8th, praising it as "a result of solid completeness and a meaningful message that resonated with audiences overseas as well as domestically." This is the second award the film has received at an international film festival. In June, 'Taeil' received the Jury Special Prize in the Contrechamp (feature competition) category at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Directed by Hong Jun-pyo, 'Taeil' depicts the life of labor activist Jeon Tae-il. It highlights him as a person pursuing simple dreams and happiness, minimizing the distance created by the label of martyrdom, and raising awareness of harsh labor conditions as a societal issue, thereby forming social empathy. Actors Jang Dong-yoon, Yeom Hye-ran, Jin Seon-kyu, Kwon Hae-hyo, and Park Cheol-min participated in the dubbing.

Meanwhile, the festival featured the first-ever 'Korean Animation Special Exhibition,' showcasing forty-four works. Director Kim Kyung-bae's 'A Man a Man' won the Gold Award in the short film category of the Gon Satoshi Award, and director Moon Su-jin's 'Gakjil' received the Audience Award in the short animation category.
