[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] Doosan Mobility Innovation (hereinafter DMI) is promoting a rural-urban win-win project using amphibious drones in collaboration with local governments.
DMI announced that starting from the 8th, it will conduct safety monitoring for vacationers at Hamdeok Beach in Jeju. To prevent safety accidents, amphibious drones equipped with cameras will be deployed over the sea to monitor the entire beach area in real time.
Using amphibious drones capable of flying for more than two hours, DMI plans to carry out ▲life safety monitoring at beaches during vacation seasons ▲coastal environment monitoring ▲drone operation education for youth in rural fishing villages.
The drones will emit warning sounds through speakers, broadcast announcements to find lost children, and immediately drop life-saving tubes in case of drowning incidents to assist in rescue operations. Additionally, they will identify marine debris washed ashore and red tide situations, relaying this information to the control center to enable proactive measures.
In the future, DMI aims to inspect the growth status of citrus trees in orchards, convert this data into big data, and stabilize citrus prices by predicting harvest yields and adjusting supply and demand.
A DMI official stated, “We plan to develop a solution that integrates machine learning technology to enable amphibious drones to independently identify people in distress and contact nearby coastal guards.” He added, “By leveraging the advantages of amphibious drones, we will not only grow our business but also develop items considering the characteristics of each local community to create various win-win strategies and actively promote them.”
