[Asia Economy, Jang Hee-jun, Junior Reporter] Lydia Ko (25), who will join the ranks of brides-to-be by the end of this year, remained tight-lipped about her honeymoon destination but said, "I think we will base our household in the United States."
New Zealand Korean Lydia Ko revealed this during an interview after finishing the 4th round of the AIG Women's Open on the 7th (local time).
Lydia Ko finished tied for 7th at the LPGA Tour AIG Women's Open held at Muirfield (par 71, 6,728 yards) in East Lothian, Scotland, UK. She shot 3-under 68 with 4 birdies and 1 bogey, recording a total of 5-under 279.
Lydia Ko said, "During the 4th round, the wind was the strongest today, so I thought I must not lose concentration even on short and easy shots," adding, "It was the toughest condition, but it was my best score, so I was satisfied with my performance."
After taking about a week off, Lydia Ko plans to participate in the Indonesia tournament and then the LPGA Canada Open. She is set to marry Jung Joon (27), son of Chung Tae-young, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Card, on December 30 at Myeongdong Cathedral. It is known that the couple scheduled their wedding at the end of the year considering Lydia Ko’s tournament schedule.
When asked about wedding preparations, Lydia Ko explained, "Both families are providing a lot of help, so we can be comfortable." She smiled and said "It's a secret" regarding the honeymoon destination, and hinted about their new household, saying, "Since we both have work in the U.S., I think we will base ourselves there."
Meanwhile, after the match, Lydia Ko signed autographs and took photos with fans one by one, especially spending a long time talking with children.
She said, "I naturally like children and dogs," adding, "When juniors, who are future hopefuls, come to tournaments, I hope that as an active player I can inspire them and help them grow into LPGA players later."
