Models are introducing the non-alcoholic wine 'Purple Dog Zero Wine' and the party wine 'Smiley Wine' at 7-Eleven.
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Seven Eleven announced on the 8th that it will launch 'Purpledog Zero Wine' and 'Smiley Wine' for the first time in the convenience store industry through its mobile application (Seven App).
The wines introduced this time are four types of non-alcoholic wine 'Purpledog Zero Wine,' which undergoes the entire brewing process including fermentation and aging, with alcohol 100% removed through specialized technology, and five types of 'Smiley Wine,' which has gained popularity as a party wine among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z). All can be pre-ordered via the Seven App and picked up at designated stores.
Purpledog Zero Wine is a strategically introduced product, anticipating an increase in demand for non-alcoholic wine as the popularity of wine continues and the demand for non-alcoholic beer grows simultaneously. Seven Eleven's wine sales in the first half of this year increased by more than 60% compared to the previous year, and non-alcoholic beer sales also more than doubled, showing a steep growth trend.
The products available through the Seven App include four types of Purpledog Zero Wine, such as Sparkling White and Sparkling Ros?, allowing customers to choose according to their preferences. It is characterized by offering the deep taste and various aromas typically experienced in regular wine. It is also a wine that was served at the Nobel Prize Committee's banquet for two consecutive years.
Smiley Wine comes in five varieties: Ros?, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine bottles feature an embossed smiley character, emphasizing a lively feel suitable for parties. It was created in collaboration between the Icard family, owners of several wineries in the Bordeaux region of France, and the brand Smiley, symbolizing a yellow smile.
Kim Heung-sik, head of the Global Sourcing Team at Seven Eleven, said, "As drinking culture changes recently, non-alcoholic wine and light party wines are gaining consumer interest," adding, "We expect to secure the market through the launch of non-alcoholic wine. We will continue to introduce various trendy products."
