Andong City Implements Water Source Change (Flow Modification) for K-water Local Water Supply Block System Construction.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Andong City in Gyeongbuk Province and the Korea Water Resources Corporation plan to change the water flow of the local water supply system starting from August 10, beginning with Dangbuk-dong, Okya-dong, and Gwangseok-dong.
The city and the corporation are establishing a block system as part of the local water supply modernization project.
Due to the long extension of the existing water supply pipelines, emergency leakage incidents or water supply shutdowns affecting a wide range of households during installation and inspection of water facilities caused not only inconvenience to residents but also management difficulties.
To resolve this, a block system that divides the local water supply pipelines into sections for management is being promoted.
The block system enables uniform and stable water quality maintenance by block, blocking turbid and stagnant water, and facilitating rapid identification and response to contamination causes.
To establish the block system, the water flow of the water supply must be changed, which may cause slight water turbulence within the water supply area, potentially resulting in cloudy water in some regions.
A city official stated, “If cloudy water occurs, please contact the Andong City Water and Sewerage Department Supply Team or the Korea Water Resources Corporation Local Water Supply Modernization Project Team, and we will take immediate action,” adding, “Although the water flow change (water system switching) may cause some inconvenience to citizens, we ask for your active cooperation.”
