Gangdong-gu Offers Free Vehicle Inspections for Chuseok

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) will conduct free vehicle inspections and maintenance on August 29 at the Amsa-dong Historic Site parking lot to help ensure a safe and comfortable journey home for the Chuseok holiday, a major traditional festival.

This free inspection, organized by the Seoul Automobile Professional Maintenance Business Association Gangdong-gu Branch (Branch Chief Kim Kyung-chun), will involve 60 qualified maintenance technicians.

The inspection will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 29th. To participate, residents simply need to hand over their vehicle to a mechanic at the maintenance booth at the event site. The inspection targets non-commercial passenger cars owned by residents of Gangdong-gu.

Key inspection items include ▲underbody check ▲inspection and replenishment of various belts, oil, coolant, and washer fluid ▲inspection of braking system, battery, lighting devices, tire air pressure, and wear ▲dashboard, electrical system, and vehicle emissions check.

Since 1989, the district has been providing free inspection services in cooperation with the Seoul Automobile Professional Maintenance Business Association Gangdong-gu Branch, having inspected over 6,500 vehicles to date, supporting residents to travel safely to their hometowns.

Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, emphasized, “Since long-distance driving is more frequent than usual, vehicle safety checks before departure are essential,” and urged residents to “actively use this free inspection service.”
