Haenam-gun Hyunwoo Farm Certified as the 3rd Nationwide 'Animal Welfare Livestock Farm'

[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Hyunwoo Farm, located in Hwangsan-myeon, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has received the national third certification as an animal welfare livestock farm from the government.

Hyunwoo Farm raises about 110 Korean native cattle (Hanwoo) and obtained the animal welfare livestock farm certification as the third in the nation through thorough record management and systematic feeding management.

Hyunwoo Farm, which was designated as a clean livestock farm and Jeollanam-do animal welfare-type green livestock farm in 2018, received HACCP certification in 2020 and organic livestock re-certification in 2021, has now achieved a remarkable milestone by upgrading to receive the Animal Welfare Livestock Farm certification from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency.

In addition, it produces Hanwoo certified as organic livestock by maintaining appropriate breeding density using livestock exercise yards and high-quality feeding management by providing organically cultivated forage through integrated farming.

Goh Min-ho, CEO of Hyunwoo Farm, started livestock farming in 2010, graduated from Suncheon National University’s Department of Animal Resources to acquire professional livestock know-how, and operates the farm with enthusiasm, having completed the Jeonnam Agricultural Meister College together with his spouse.

In particular, he organized the Haenam-gun Organic Hanwoo Farming Cooperative Corporation and played a key role in the development of the Hanwoo industry by successfully achieving the nation’s first organic certification for Hanwoo. The farm ships about 60 heads of high-quality Hanwoo annually, generating an annual income of over 100 million KRW.
