Seoul Citizens and Organizations Awarded for Significant Contributions to City Administration Development and Enhancing Citizen Happiness through 'Donghaeng·Maeryeok'

Seoul City Accepts Nominations for '2022 Seoul Special City Hall of Fame' Inductee Candidates Until the 15th

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 4th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it is seeking nominations for candidates to be inducted into the "Seoul Metropolitan Government Hall of Fame" to honor citizens and organizations who have made significant contributions to the development of city administration and the enhancement of citizen happiness.

The "Hall of Fame" is installed and operated on the wall of the underground passage connecting City Hall Station on Subway Line 1 to the Citizen Hall, a location easily accessible to citizens, to remember and honor citizens who have made great contributions to the development of Seoul city administration, sharing, and donations over a long period. This year, a plaque engraved with the "Face of Seoul," who has warmed and filled the hearts of Seoul citizens with happiness, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Now in its 7th year, the "Hall of Fame" has honored 36 individuals and organizations with achievements in various fields such as safety, welfare, and culture since 2016, shining brightly in its ranks.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government will accept nominations for induction candidates for six weeks until September 15. Eligible nominees are citizens and organizations who have made remarkable contributions to creating "a coexisting city walking with the vulnerable, an attractive global leading city Seoul," regardless of fields such as sharing, volunteering, and job creation.

Nominators include Seoul citizens (organizations), heads of Seoul city departments and bureaus, and district mayors. When ordinary Seoul citizens (organizations) find and recommend unsung heroes, a recommendation letter signed by at least 10 citizens aged 19 or older who are not from the same household must be submitted along with the prescribed nomination form.

Inductees will be selected through two rounds of review by a selection committee composed of related experts, and the final selection announcement and induction ceremony are scheduled to be held in November.

Kim Sang-han, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Administration Bureau, said, "Even amid the long tunnel-like pandemic situation, citizens who have made Seoul a warm and attractive city with love for neighbors and the local community can shine as the 'Face of Seoul' in the 'Hall of Fame.' We ask for active recommendations of induction candidates."
