[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] LG Uplus will launch new pricing plans for ‘U+ OfficeNet Security,’ a bundled service combining the corporate customer-exclusive internet service ‘OfficeNet’ and PC security solutions, as well as ‘U+ Web Fax,’ a service that allows fax transmission using only a PC or mobile phone, on the 4th.
U+ OfficeNet Security is a line package product that combines the internet service ‘OfficeNet,’ provided to small business owners and SMEs, with security solutions. It is offered in four pricing plans depending on the number of PCs connected to the internet line.
The security solutions provided together with OfficeNet include three types: ‘BIZ Remote Doctor,’ which offers remote support when PC or network issues or security incidents occur; ‘Personal Information Leakage Prevention,’ which blocks connections to external storage devices such as USBs, printers, and networks to prevent external data leaks; and ‘Ransomware Prevention,’ which detects ransomware in real time to block it in advance and encrypts files and folders on the PC to prevent tampering caused by ransomware.
In particular, the ‘Personal Information Leakage Prevention’ solution holds the number one market share domestically and is used by over 2,000 companies and institutions in Korea. In the case of financial institutions, which have high security sensitivity due to handling personal and financial information, about 100 companies, accounting for 80% of the industry, have adopted this solution.
Previously, LG Uplus conducted a survey targeting small business owners and SME customers, which revealed a shortage of IT managers and a significant cost burden associated with purchasing security solutions. According to the Korea Information Security Industry Association, the current domestic security market size is 3.3 trillion KRW, but the PC-based information security service market accounts for only 523.1 billion KRW, or 16% of that.
The OfficeNet Security offered by LG Uplus is characterized by reducing cost burdens while strengthening security. LG Uplus expects that customers using OfficeNet Security can reduce costs by up to 40% compared to hiring IT management personnel and purchasing security solutions. Additionally, customers can receive up to a 30% combined discount when used together with U+ Internet Phone.
To commemorate the launch of this product, LG Uplus is also running a promotion allowing customers who subscribe to OfficeNet Security by the end of September to use the service free of charge for two months.
They also launched a new pricing plan for ‘Web Fax,’ which allows users to easily send faxes via PC or mobile phone. The new plan is a flat-rate product based on the maximum number of transmissions. Previously, only a pay-per-use plan (39 KRW per page) existed, but with this flat-rate plan, Web Fax users can reduce their cost burden.
