[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] A man in his 40s who went missing near the rocky shore close to Jisimdo Pier in Geoje-si, Gyeongnam, was found dead after one day.

According to Changwon Coast Guard on the 2nd, Mr. A, who was collecting clams and barnacles on the rocky shore at 4:03 PM on the 1st, was swept away by waves and fell into the sea. The coast guard responded to a report from a companion who witnessed the accident and began searching for the missing person.

The coast guard deployed five vessels including rescue teams and coastal rescue boats, two civilian rescue ships, and a coast guard rescue helicopter. The Navy Jinhae Base Command, Geoje Fire Station, and Geoje City also provided personnel and equipment support.

Mr. A was found dead underwater at a depth of 4 to 5 meters near the rocky shore about 100 meters northwest of the accident site at 10:25 AM on the 2nd, the second day of the disappearance.

The sea where the search was conducted was experiencing continuous rain due to the typhoon, with southwest winds blowing at 8 to 10 m/s and waves reaching 2 meters in height.

A coast guard official advised, “You should never go near rocky shores or breakwaters when the weather is even slightly bad, such as when it is raining or windy.”
