[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Students of the Department of Aviation Service at Silla University (President Kim Chung-seok) are having a "profitable" vacation. All students who participated in the vacation program obtained useful certifications.
Silla University announced on the 2nd that students who participated in extracurricular programs during the vacation achieved success in acquiring major-related certifications.
The Department of Aviation Service conducted courses for current students in July to obtain the Airline Cabin Crew Training certification and the Airline Passenger Fares certification, both administered by IATA ATC, an IATA-accredited training organization.
The Airline Cabin Crew certification is an exam designed to evaluate essential knowledge for aviation professionals, including qualities of flight attendants, in-flight service, and overall safety duties. All 27 students who took the exam passed.
The Airline Passenger Fares certification is obtained through comprehensive understanding of passenger fares and related technical skills. All 41 students achieved this certification with an average score above 90.
In the previous semester, 42 out of 45 students obtained the TOPAS certification, the reservation system of Korean Air, demonstrating that students are enhancing their professionalism and abilities to become flight attendants through major courses and extracurricular programs.
The Department of Aviation Service recently received four A330 emergency escape slides from Asiana Airlines to use as educational support materials, building up state-of-the-art practical training equipment and facilities to support students' practical skills improvement.
Student Ha Geon-woo from the Department of Aviation Service said, "I am happy to have obtained internationally recognized certifications in the aviation field through the department's program during the vacation," adding, "I will definitely achieve my dream of becoming a flight attendant to repay the professors who passionately taught us even during the vacation."
Jung Hee-kyung, head of the Department of Aviation Service, said, "With the resumption of hiring in the aviation industry after COVID-19, all faculty members are devoted to guiding students' employment," and added, "From the lower grades, students strengthen their individual capabilities by practicing at well-known local service companies such as Air Busan Dream Campus, Paradise Hotel, and Best Western Plus Hotel."
The Department of Aviation Service at Silla University is advancing as the cradle for training top flight attendants in the southeastern region through cooperation with major domestic airlines such as T'way Air, Air Busan, and Air Premia, and specialized aviation practical education.
