[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] A woman who defecated and fled from an unmanned claw machine room in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi Province appeared at the police station and admitted to her charges.
The Gimpo Police Station announced on the 2nd that they summoned and investigated a woman, Ms. A, suspected of defecating and fleeing from a claw machine room on the first floor of a commercial building in Gurae-dong, Gimpo-si, at around 6:50 p.m. on June 7. According to the police, Ms. A stated, "I did it because I urgently needed to use the restroom."
According to closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage released through media reports on the 7th of last month, Ms. A hurriedly entered the store, went to a corner, and suddenly defecated.
After defecating, the woman checked her outfit in the mirror but took no action and left as is. She stayed in the store for about one minute.
Mr. B, who operates this store, received a call from a customer the day after the incident saying "there is a bad smell in the store," confirmed through CCTV that Ms. A defecated, and reported it to the police.
Mr. B reportedly complained that he spent tens of thousands of won hiring a cleaning company to remove the filth and suffered significant losses due to being unable to operate properly. The owner lamented, "Because of COVID-19, it’s already tight to pay the rent, and the damage is severe. The cleaning costs and the period during which we couldn’t operate are also factors."
The police plan to decide on the applicable charges and whether to book Ms. A after reviewing her statements and other details.
