Golmok Brewery, 'Golmok Makgeolli Premium' Launched at Large Marts like Emart and Homeplus

Golmok Brewery (CEO Park Yudeok), located in Yesan County, announced that its "Golmok Makgeolli Premium," made using Yesan rice, has started selling at major supermarkets such as E-Mart, Homeplus, and Lotte Mart.


Recently, interest in traditional liquor has been rising mainly among the MZ generation, leading to an increase in sales channels where traditional liquors can be found, including online platforms, convenience stores, and large supermarkets.


"Golmok Makgeolli Premium" is a regional specialty liquor made using Yesan rice and is available for purchase online. Previously, offline consumers could only find it at Golmok Brewery located inside the Yesan permanent market, but with this major supermarket launch, accessibility for consumers has been greatly improved.


"Golmok Makgeolli Premium" is a premium makgeolli with an alcohol content of 12%, made using rice from the Yesan region. The ingredients include rice, purified water, nuruk (fermentation starter), and yeast. Its high rice content gives it a rich texture and a savory grain aroma produced during the fermentation process. Additionally, using patented technology, it features the natural sweetness derived from rice without artificial sweeteners and maintains quality over a long period. In fact, "Golmok Makgeolli Premium" has shown about five times higher offline sales compared to the existing "Golmok Makgeolli Original," demonstrating strong consumer interest.


Meanwhile, the development and major supermarket launch of "Golmok Makgeolli Premium" involved the touch of CEO Baek Jong-won, who formed a connection through SBS's "Golmok Sikdang" (Baek's Alley Restaurant). CEO Park Yudeok, who first introduced "Golmok Makgeolli 6%" through Baek Jong-won's solutions on "Golmok Sikdang," said that while maintaining his unique makgeolli characteristics in this premium release, Baek Jong-won's advice helped balance the taste to suit mainstream consumers, along with support for sales to large distribution companies.


He added, "We have researched to create distinctive makgeolli and developed this premium makgeolli by incorporating elements such as sophisticated design and taste to align with the changing makgeolli market centered on the MZ generation. 'Golmok Makgeolli Premium' surpassed sales of 14,000 bottles within two months of its major supermarket launch."


CEO Park Yudeok stated, "I want to discover high-quality agricultural products from Yesan County and develop liquors that highlight their characteristics to promote the excellence of Korean agricultural products and competitive Korean liquors worldwide." He also mentioned plans to introduce good products made from quality agricultural ingredients suitable for Korean liquors, not limited to rice.


Meanwhile, "Golmok Makgeolli Premium 12%" is available in 350ml bottles and can be purchased at major supermarkets and online sales channels.
