On the 2nd, Metaverse System Construction Service Report Meeting Held
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gui-yeol] The organizing committee of the Yeongju World Punggi Ginseng Expo in Gyeongbuk plans to create an experiential space where people around the world can enjoy the Punggi Ginseng Expo together by utilizing the metaverse.
On the 2nd, the Expo organizing committee held a briefing session on the ‘Metaverse Utilization Expo Operation and Integrated Marketing Service’ at the City Hall’s 2nd meeting room.
The briefing session was chaired by Vice Mayor Song Ho-jun and attended by about 30 people from the Future Strategy Office, Public Relations and IT Office, and Planning and Budget Office, including those operating Y-Junior (YOUNG & YEONGJU). The session proceeded with receiving reports and gathering opinions on ▲the planning intent from the agency AppTools ▲the map production process ▲promotion plans and play videos.
This service project started in May and will continue until the second half of the year, aiming to fulfill Gyeongbuk Province’s pledge to create a ‘Gyeongbuk Metaverse Capital,’ respond quickly to rapidly changing local government events, and strengthen promotion and communication channels targeting the MZ generation.
The metaverse refers to a virtual world, described as ‘a place where one enters a virtual country and borrows a virtual body called an avatar to interact and engage in activities, created by AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) technologies.’
Since COVID-19, it has been utilized in various fields, and Yeongju City plans to use the metaverse for the Punggi Ginseng Expo to attempt global marketing targeting the MZ generation.
The platform used is Zepeto (Naver Z), through which the entire Punggi Ginseng Expo venue is implemented as a virtual space, including ▲various exhibition halls such as the Theme Hall, Ginseng Future Hall, and Life Science Hall ▲ginseng-related items like outdoor stages, walking trails, jump games, and photo zones ▲SNS events, expected to allow all citizens of Korea to easily and conveniently enjoy and participate.
The organizing committee was selected in July for the Korea Tourism Organization’s metaverse ‘Korea Travel Village’ public contest project and plans to strengthen Expo promotion through ‘Pungsami,’ the dedicated character for the Yeongju World Punggi Ginseng Expo.
Vice Mayor Song Ho-jun said, “We expect that by experiencing the 2022 Yeongju World Punggi Ginseng Expo in the metaverse in advance, the MZ generation will develop great interest in ginseng,” and added, “We will do our best to create an opportunity for the re-advancement of the ginseng industry and increase the consumption of Punggi ginseng through the Yeongju World Punggi Ginseng Expo.”
The ‘2022 Yeongju World Punggi Ginseng Expo,’ under the theme ‘Ginseng, Embracing the World and Opening the Future!,’ will be held for 24 days from September 30 to October 23 at the Punggi Ginseng Culture Popup Park area in Yeongju City. Admission tickets can be purchased at Saemaeul Geumgo branches in Yeongju and Bonghwa counties, Nonghyup Bank branches in Gyeongbuk Province, agricultural and livestock cooperative counters in Yeongju City, and the YES24 Ticket online website.
