[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, conducted heatwave prevention and traffic safety education for 'smoking cessation instructors.' The program was tailored to the nature of their work, which involves activities in extreme heat and frequent use of vehicles.
On July 29, Geochang-gun held heatwave prevention and traffic safety training for six smoking cessation instructors at the Public Health Center's Integrated Health Promotion Office to manage smoking-free zones and create a smoke-free environment.
The training covered types of heat-related illnesses and how to respond to them, aimed at smoking cessation instructors who must continue inspections even during the hot summer. To ensure the traffic safety of instructors who conduct inspections and guidance using private vehicles, education on traffic accident prevention, response measures, and the 12 major traffic violations was also provided.
County Governor Gu In-mo said, "The period for smoking cessation instructors' guidance and inspection coincides with the summer heat, so I hope they pay special attention to the heatwave while working. I also hope they do their best to support the public's smoking cessation and prevent secondhand smoke."
Smoking cessation instructors are responsible for monthly inspections of facility compliance in smoking-free zones, monitoring and guiding against smoking behaviors in these zones, reporting violations to the public health center or providing related data, and supporting smoking cessation promotion and education.
