Yeongam-gun Cancels the 2022 Yeongam Wangin Cultural Festival Entirely

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, has decided to cancel the ‘Yeongam Wangin Cultural Festival’ scheduled for this year due to the nationwide spread of COVID-19.

According to Yeongam-gun on the 1st, in accordance with the basic guidelines for local festivals following the extension of strengthened social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the ‘2022 Yeongam Wangin Cultural Festival,’ which had been postponed from early April to this fall, has been completely canceled.

The Yeongam-gun Hometown Festival Promotion Committee convened an emergency meeting and made this decision in response to the recent rapid nationwide spread of COVID-19, which had previously been easing.

A Yeongam-gun official stated, “This is a significant decision prioritizing the health and safety of our residents,” adding, “We will organize the festival to better enjoy historical and cultural tourism resources and beautiful scenery, showcasing a festival that reflects Yeongam-gun’s development through innovation.”
