Early Establishment of Cloud Data Centers, Core of the 4th Industrial Revolution
Additional Leisure and Recreation Facilities Created in New Town Parks for Early Access
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Gyeongbuk Province has given final approval to the amendment of the ‘New Provincial Government Complex New Town Development Plan (11th edition) and Implementation Plan (5th edition),’ which includes the construction of a cloud data center, a core facility of the 4th Industrial Revolution, within the second phase project area of the new town, as well as plans for a family park to add leisure and recreational facilities within the park.
The Gyeongbuk Cloud Data Center is a project that gathers equipment such as servers, networks, and data storage devices necessary for providing IT services to create servers externally in the cloud, and also includes the establishment of infrastructure for quantum computer cloud services.
Once the center is completed, it is expected to become a major driving force leading future new industries by promoting data-driven provincial administration innovation and discovering and implementing win-win models for the region’s strategic industries.
The project covers an area of approximately 8,000㎡ with a two-story building above ground. The basic and detailed designs are scheduled to be completed by June next year, followed by pilot operations in 2024, and service provision planned for the first half of 2025.
The family park project aims to create various leisure and recreational facilities such as water play areas, park golf courses, auto camping sites, and sports facilities within a neighborhood park adjacent to the Central Lake Park, addressing the shortage of such facilities in the first phase of the new town and catering to various age groups.
Before the completion of the second phase of the new town, the park will be made available to residents early by coordinating facility operation plans in advance with officials from Andong City, Yecheon County, and Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, with the goal of opening it to residents in the second half of next year.
A Gyeongbuk Province official stated, “Starting with the cloud data center, a core facility of the 4th Industrial Revolution within the new town, we plan to attract related new industries to the urban high-tech industrial complex that will be amended in the future. We will also do our best to create a pleasant residential environment through the early establishment of the family park.”
